Why do I need a DAM?

Digital asset management software allows you to organize your assets, reuse them, preserve their historical and cultural relevance, as well as streamline your content production workflow. DAM systems exist to help companies maximize their investment, time, and effort in media and content creation.

How do you get my team to sign off on the DAM process and follow it?

People often won’t embrace a new process until they understand how it’s going to benefit their day-to-day work. Aldis makes sure your customized DAM solution is going to make less work, not more! We offer thorough documentation and training to make sure everyone sees and enjoys the benefits, from your marketing teams to your communications department to your organizational archivists.

What is the difference between DAM and MAM?

The terms DAM (digital asset management) and MAM (media asset management) are often used interchangeably. Both are a single source of truth for your organization’s digitized content. For us, we think of DAM as libraries of still images and smaller digital files. A MAM, however, is a larger library optimized for audio assets, video media, content production workflows, and physical asset storage.

What is DAM optimization?

DAM optimization is a fairly new offering within the market. It’s the service that customizes your DAM system to better fit the way you work. We’ve seen far too many companies invest in a solution that falls short of their needs, often due to a lack of initial setup and training. DAM optimization ensures companies get the most out of their asset management investment.

Why do I need to establish DAM governance and policy?

Aldis recognizes that a DAM isn’t a simple repository, but a living library of assets. A library consistently needs leadership to drive its collection policies and make sure that its contents remain relevant to the needs of the users it serves. With this in mind, Aldis can help in identifying key stakeholders who can help with delegating tasks, setting goals, and keeping an eye on the DAM as an evolving project.

Can I mine and integrate metadata that has been collected through other technology?

Often, the answer is yes! Aldis is familiar with large-scale data migration and will help with mapping old information to useful metadata fields to create new meaning.

Can Aldis work with my partners?

Yes! We are very flexible. We’re happy to work with, train or integrate with your existing partners.

Can my DAM system integrate with other apps?

Sharepoint, Adobe Experience Manager, Workfront, QuickBooks, Filemaker Pro, Brightcove, Kaltura, Vantage, etc. It depends on which platform you use and if it has an open API. Some plug-ins integrate with other apps easily, others may require you to have a plug-in created.

How much will a DAM solution cost?

The cost depends on many factors: software, level of functionality needed, number of users, amount of media storage needed, etc. To get the best fit, it takes a conversation focused on your needs and specific situation.

Do DAM systems work with the cloud?

It can! Some systems have full cloud integration, some only integrate with portions of their system, and others have none. It all depends on what your needs are, such as how often or to how many locations you are sharing digital assets.

Will the DAM tie into Active Directory?

It depends on the software you use. Some platforms tie into Active Directory and others do not. If that’s something on your DAM wishlist, we’ll make sure to match you with a compatible platform.

How many users can we have?

As many as you’d like! User limits and cost-per-user details are dictated by the software you choose, not by our service. If you’re not already using a DAM platform (or if you’re looking for a new one), we’ll help you find one that matches your user needs and budget.
